Day #7 — Chaos & Beauty

Photo by eberhard grossgasteiger from Pexels

So, tomorrow is Thanksgiving. I’m waking up at 5:45 am to take my mom to the airport. Tomorrow marks a first holiday without my dad. It’s been four years since my friend died by suicide. Thanksgiving has been a bitter holiday for me in so many ways. The only sense of calm I have is that I’ll be able to stay in my sweatpants all day while I cook a turkey and just chill out on the couch.

In a way, I’m okay with these changes as much as I don’t like them. I’m supportive of my mom going on this journey because I’m on a journey, too. Her journey is to travel and to redecorate the house. Mine has been writing here on Medium.

Fingers crossed I won’t burst into tears tomorrow.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving all!

Can beauty be found in chaos? How do you describe chaos?

Chaos is standing on top of a mountain peak when dark storm clouds are gathering around you. The sun is swallowed by the dark grey clouds. Wind is ripping through your hair. You can hear the evergreen pine and spruce trees groaning in the unrelenting wind, fighting the urge to break from the pressure.
